Historic Homes of Momence

Slocum Wilber - 1850

This home on Washington Street was built in 1850 by Slocum Wilber.

This was the home of Slocum Wilber, a pioneer seeds man. He developed and sold both garden seeds and seed for field crops. Robert and Nodine Wille were the proud owners of this home from 1935 through 1940. In 1984 Doris Trone McCauley owned this home and in 1988 sold it to Rick and Lorri L. Simpson who did a beautiful job renovating the inside. Rick's mother Nancy Simpson lived in the home until 2007 when it was sold to the present owner, Mickey Porter. Mr. Porter is a former Mayor of Momence.
