Graham Historic House Receives Illinois Main Street Award

Janine Loftus receiving Design Award at Illinois Main Street Conference Janine Gubbins Loftus, Executive Director of Main Street Momence accepted the Illinois Main Street Award for Outstanding Design for Momence late last month in Carbondale, Illinois during the annual Illinois Main Street State Conference. This award was one of two presented to Main Street Momence. Ms. Gubbins Loftus is shown with Cory Jobe, the newly appointed State Director for the Illinois Office of Tourism. Janine and Nancy Liberty Porter nominated the Graham Historic House & Museum as an outstanding building restoration project. (For more details read the award nomination)

 

Nancy Porter and Kevin VanDrunen at Van Drunen Farms headquarters Kevin Van Drunen & Nancy Liberty Porter are shown at the Van Drunen Farms Headquarters in Momence. Van Drunen Farms funded nearly 4/5 of the restoration costs for the Graham Historic House & Museum which won the Illinois Main Street Award for Design and Preservation late last month in Carbondale, Illinois. The Graham House was also recognized last year as they took home Main Street Momence's most coveted prize the "Les Du Montelle" Award for Excellence for Downtown Building Restoration. Nancy volunteered hundreds of hours as she oversaw the complete interior and exterior restoration of the 1869 modest Victorian home and Kevin ensured the only the best contractors and materials were used during the process.

 


 

Nancy Porter Receives Award

Nancy Porter receives Kankakee County Volunteer Award Congratulations to Nancy Porter who received the Kankakee County Wide History Volunteer of the Year Award from the Kankakee County Historical Society on October 11, 2015. Congratulations also to Norma Meier for winning the Kankakee County in house award for History Volunteer of The Year. Janine Loftus of Main Street Momence nominated Nancy, and her parents were in attendance at the award ceremony.
